Mr. Mathew is one of the few business personalities who have played a pivotal role in the growth of the industrial sector in Kerala. He was born into a middle class farming family called 'Panthaplakkal' in Pala who used to cultivate pepper, rubber and cardamom.

Mr. Mathew’s elder son Mr. Joshi, an Engineering Graduate is the Managing Director spearheading the group of companies viz, Exelon Hi-Fabs & Contractors, Southern Surface finishers, Peeyem Associates and ESSJAY Traders. His expertise is utilized in production and technical areas of the group.
